Our client provides cutting edge science and technology solutions into public sector clients and as such they have built strong teams across their various locations in the UK who are working hard to support vital missions and solve the world's toughest problems. Due to the continued success and growth of the business, they are looking for a Technical Project Manager for their client in Glasgow City Centre.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Technical Project Manager will manage projects from the following; an inflight Master Data Management project, Enterprise Messaging and API frameworks project, Dev Ops projects and a Cloud PoC project.

Key Accountabilities of the Technical Project Manager role:

  • Ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Manage a set of projects to achieve the agreed objectives by monitoring deliverables and tracking progress; detailing key milestones, dependencies and critical path where appropriate
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and programmes across the portfolio
  • Adhere to project management standards, methodologies and practices via the Programme Manager and the Corporate PMO
  • Manage cross-cutting project issues and secure satisfactory resolution, escalating to the programme where necessary
  • Ensure regular dialogue with all project suppliers and stakeholders to promote problem solving, team working and risk-sharing
  • Deliver projects according to the appropriate quality standard, on time and within budget through monthly monitoring
  • Manage third party contributions to projects as appropriate
  • Ensure benefits and performance targets of the project activities are identified, measured and monitored.
  • Monitor and manage project risks/opportunities, and resolution of issues;
  • Ensuring effective management of any changes impacting project delivery are tracked through controlled change process
  • Report on project progress through agreed reporting lines, at agreed intervals, via highlight reports and portfolio/programme/project board when necessary

Skills & experience required for Technical Project Manager role:

  • Significant experience as a Technical Project Manager for end to end projects delivering one or more of the following type of projects; Data Management; Messaging & API Frameworks, DevOps projects and Cloud PoC project
  • Public sector and/or Financial Services background would be highly beneficial experience
  • Prince 2 qualified with proven track record of applying project management methodologies and practices in a complex ICT/business project delivery environment
  • Experience of working in an agile delivery environment
  • Experience of working in a strong ICT focussed business environment
  • Experience of working in teams with a strong technology focus
  • Experience of quality assurance and change management
  • Successful management of 3rd Party Service Providers and experience of managing and delivering large procurement exercises, preferably in the public sector
  • Experience of managing large ICT project budgets
