SceneOne has an exciting opportunity to join of a multi-national, award-winning in IT Consulting with an aggressive growth plan for the UK market in 2018/19.  They service into both the private and public sector on crucial, cutting edge technology projects. 

Due to the continued success and growth of their UK operations and the onboarding of new and exciting clients, they are looking to add a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to their operations in Edinburgh.    

The Role:

You will develop and support SQL Server solutions for medium to large scale organisations within an existing team of SQL Server DBA’s and Developers with this Microsoft Gold Partner. 

You will work end to end on projects including requirement gathering and relationship management of key clients.

Role Requirements:

In order to be successful in this role, you will be an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with experience and knowledge in the following areas:


  • Solid background in Microsoft technologies
  • Minimum of 2 years of SQL Server Database Administration and support
  • SQL, T-SQL
  • Preparing the inventory of in scope servers, preparing and proving procedures, looking at pre-requisites, training and identifying the migration approach for migrations to be conducted
  • Full migration lifecycle activities including detailed analysis, design, development, test, user acceptance test support and production implementation
  • Identifying and correcting performance issues, reviewing systems and error logs, storage management, backups, job monitoring, optimization efforts, data integrity analysis and resolving database contention issues
  • The migration of pre-production and production database services
  • Performance tuning and optimization skills.
  • Disaster recovery methods and capacity planning.
  • Experience in a large database environments.
  • Some data modeling experience.
  • Experience with third party backup and monitoring tools.
  • SQL Server clustering, replication and log shipping an advantage
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, partitioning and statistics


  • SSIS skills for upgrading packages and potential remediation
  • A mix of DBA and development skills
  • Consultancy experience
