SceneOne's client, a multi-national IT consultancy, are seeking Software Engineers with Python experience, adept in infrastructure as code, continuous integration and DevOps deployment principles to work on a high-profile public-sector project in Leeds. You will be a strong Agile engineer with advanced specialisms in scripting, NoSQL databases and the below mentioned tools and products.

Role responsibilities of the Software Engineer/DevOps:

·Build and work on distributed systems that process large amounts of data

·Write unit and integration tests for the software components developed using industry standard methods

·Perform Code reviews

·Contribute to Story Elaborations

·Mentor junior Engineers where possible

·Collaborate with team members

·Pair Programming and work towards a common goal

·Follow coding guidelines and development processes

·Participate in Retrospectives, speak up on issues and come up with new ideas or propose improvements

·Participate in Hackathons

·Work in an Agile environment

Skills & Experience of Software Engineer/DevOps:

·Excellent experience of full stack software development (e.g. Java / C#/ .Net / C / C++)

·Python scripting experience

·Working experience with Open source technologies

·Continuous integration build tools (Jenkins, Ansible)

·Good database knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, Riak, Redis, Cassandra, CouchDB

·Unit test frameworks

·Strong practice of TDD development principles and continuous integration

·Exposure to Nginx, Redis, Elastic Search or RabbitMQ

·Git, Subversion or Mercurial, source control

·GIS experience

·Apache Spark / Hadoop experience

·Willingness to learn/pickup/experiment with new technologies
