Our client is a leading provider of technology enabled business services, working across the public and private sectors. Due to the continued success and growth of the business, they are seeking a Senior Systems Support Engineer (Windows) for their client based in Reigate.

Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Support Engineer (Windows):

The role will be an internal-customer facing position and will require solid 3rd line IT Infra-structure support skills along with excellent customer service and communication skills. A “can do” attitude is important, as is the ability to learn new technical skills and problem solve. Using a ticketing system, you will track and resolve incidents and requests in a timely fashion, coupled with a high level of customer service. You will be based on site and will be responsible for carrying out onsite work therefore strong customer-facing and prioritisation skills are a must.

Duties will include:

  • Member of a team of Senior Systems Engineers responsible for the delivery of ITIL based framework of support activities, consisting of request, problem and change management. This includes the co-ordination of timely technical solutions and responses, including liaising with third party support and external contractors; monitoring progress and keeping users appraised of it
  • Provide 3rd line IT systems support and administration of applications, servers and networks, ensuring continuity of internal and customer-servicing IT systems and related equipment.
  • Perform server patching, maintain backup schedules and run daily checks on server systems infrastructure.
  • Participate in the design process and undertake build/deployment of complex server infrastructure solutions, applications and services.
  • In the event of major faults or planned system maintenance, to undertake necessary works outside of normal working hours.
  • Undertake any other administrative duties such as systems backup, and equipment / systems inspections, as assigned.

Required skills/experience for Senior Systems Support Engineer (Windows):

  • In-depth experience in IT Server Infrastructure Build/Support.
  • Friendly and approachable, with proven customer service experience and the ability to convey technical concepts to end-users.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Microsoft Windows 7 / 10 experience
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2016, incl. PowerShell & Active Directory
  • Virtualisation Technologies (MS Hyper-V & MS Azure)
  • Microsoft Office365 Email / Applications
  • Anti-virus software – McAfee and Symantec
  • Remote Access VPN and Authentication systems
  • Storage and Backup Technologies
  • Experience of working in ITIL-based support environments.
  • Understanding of Information Security (ISO27001) principles
  • In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
