Python/DevOps Engineer

SceneOne's client, a multi-national IT consultancy, are seeking experienced Python/DevOps Engineer, adept in Python development, continuous integration and DevOps deployment principles to work on a high-profile public-sector project in Leeds.
Role responsibilities of the Python/DevOps Engineer:
- Build and work on distributed systems that process large amounts of data
- Write unit and integration tests for the software components developed using industry standard methods
- Perform Code reviews
- Contribute to Story Elaborations
- Mentor junior Engineers where possible
- Pair programming and work towards a common goal
- Follow coding guidelines and development processes
- Participate in Retrospectives - speak up on issues and come up with new ideas or propose improvements
- Participate in Hackathons
- Work in an Agile environment
Essential skills/experience required for the Python/DevOps Engineer role:
- Commercial experience of software development in Python by inheriting BDD+TDD development principles and continuous integration (using Jenkins, Ansible etc.)
- Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, preferably worked on Postgres and Riak
- Solid knowledge working with Linux/Unix
- Good understanding of source code version control tools – Git (Preferred), Subversion or Mercurial
- Experience of working with Big Data technologies (Hive, Spark/Hadoop etc.)
- Experience of Cloud ecosystems, preferably AWS
- Solid experience of working in an Agile experience is essential
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to Nginx, Redis, Elastic Search or RabbitMQ
- GIS experience
