Our client provides cutting edge science and technology solutions into public sector clients and as such they have built strong teams across their various locations in the UK who are working hard to support vital missions and solve the world’s toughest problems. Due to the continued success and growth of the business, they are looking for a Network Engineer for a project with their client in Whitely.

They are designing and building a Private Cloud platform to host its future Operational Applications, along with other Applications from test, training/simulations and corporate business areas. 

Key accountabilities of the Network Engineer role:​ 

  • Build and configuration of platform components (Cisco) using approved designs
  • Peer Review and propose alterations to Designs
  • Resolve Incidents arising on the Platform
  • Troubleshoot Platform Major Incidents within your subject areas
  • Perform root cause analysis and lessons learnt for Platform Incidents
  • Document fixes
  • Offer and articulate technical and non-technical improvement suggestions 

Skills & experience required for Network Engineer role:

  • A proven understanding of the configuration and deployment of Cisco Nexus, ASA and ASR technologies
  • Experience of designing IT Infrastructures following requirements capture
  • A thorough understanding of the HLD and LLD design stages
  • A demonstrable understanding of the base-technology disciplines required to create a complete functional solution including: Virtual Compute, Storage, Networking (Layer 2, Layer 3, Firewalling), DNS, DHCP, NTP, and to include non-functional aspects such as designing for high availability/resilience
  • Must be SC Cleared
