Farnborough / Whiteley

6-month contract (with view to extension)

SceneOne’s client provides cutting edge science and technology solutions into public sector clients and as such they have built strong teams across their various locations in the UK who are working hard to support vital missions and solve the world’s toughest problems. Due to business growth, they currently require a Lead Technical Solutions Architect to support the pre-sales, bid and ultimately delivery phases for a major government focussed IT programme. As such, the successful candidate must have in-depth experience of the bidding process coupled with the infrastructure knowledge of large-scale mission critical projects.

This role will be a combination of site-based (Farnborough & Whiteley) and home-based.

The ideal Lead Technical Solutions Architect will have the following skills:

  • Excellent customer facing and pre-sales skills, including being able to ingest large volumes of requirements and information in a competitive bid environment, developing clear understanding of customer requirements and needs
  • Experience of working in the new business environment, bidding on large and complex programmes, with outstanding ability to translate often complex technical environments into coherent and understandable solutions
  • Significant experience in designing, implementing and integrating large, enterprise-grade technical solutions meeting complex business requirements
  • Significant, tangible and demonstrable experience in the solutions design of large, complex, mission critical infrastructure architectures, across network, compute, storage and security domains
  • Experience of multiple virtualisation techniques across networks, compute and storage systems
  • Demonstrable and compelling experience of mission critical systems, bringing to bear understanding of non-functional requirements to provide necessary yet proportionate resilience and redundancy
  • Ability to provide clear technical leadership whilst working within a wider solutions team
  • Excellent knowledge of Cyber Security and its impact and relevance on Infrastructure
  • Excellent knowledge of Service Management Tooling, including monitoring and management, particularly with respect to infrastructure platforms
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL and Service Delivery business processes.
  • Experience of DevOps and DevSecOps
  • Experience of Datacentre design, management and consolidation 
  • Experience of performance/capacity analytics and modelling
  • Knowledge of complex systems/service transition
  • Experience of working within frameworks (ITIL, APM, TOGAF, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment
