Infrastructure Engineers (DevOps) - Glasgow - Day Rate c£350+ per day 

Contract - 6 months+ 

Start Date Essential – 4th January 2018

You will be part of a new project for an initial period of six months.  The Infrastructure Engineers will be responsible for the support and delivery of services for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) test, dev and production environments.

Primarily working with the Technical Architects and Security specialists the Infrastructure Engineer(s) will make a critical contribution to the successful operation of systems delivered as a part of the programme.

This will include the design, implementation, and administration of the production, test and development environments for systems. It will include support to the team on major operational challenges such as ensuring these systems are secure, highly available and operate with exemplary performance. 

  • Suitably qualified Infrastructure Engineers with the following skills:
    • Experience in Cloud automation and configuration management experience. Preferably using Ansible in an AWS environment
    • Strong Linux knowledge with good understanding of code and script
    • Knowledge of deploying Infrastructure as Code, preferably AWS Cloud formation
    • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD tool
    • GitHub and Git source control experience
    • Experience with JIRA/Confluence collaborations tools
    • Good understanding of networking and security
    • Experience delivering projects managed using an Agile framework
    • Significant senior professional experience of web infrastructure as well as the operation and support of high traffic commodity services, web applications and platforms.
    • Proficient in deploying, administering, securing and optimising a web application system architecture including:
    • Web servers, web accelerators and reverse proxy caches
    • Linux operating system
    • Java web applications
    • Relational database servers
  • Proficient in administering, securing and optimising computer networks including the following technologies:
    • TCP/IP
    • HTTP
    • DNS
    • SSL
  • Experience in the delivery and maintenance of system quality attributes, in particular security, performance, compatibility, resilience and scalability.
  • Proficient in system monitoring, capacity planning, business continuity, system support and failure diagnosis.
  • Familiarity with web systems architecture, deployment & operation within both traditional data centres as well as was cloud environments.
  • Experience of both waterfall and Agile methods of project management, with proficiency in iterative software development - including an understanding of the associated responsibilities, practices and artefacts and the ability to communicate clearly on these and other elements of the software development lifecycle.
