My client, a consultancy who specialise in services to the health and social care sector, are seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer for a project role based in Epping, Essex. They require someone with working knowledge and experience of IG GDPR to deliver a suite of documents, policies and procedures required to implement an Information Sharing Agreement for a transformation programme. You would be a key member of the IG GDPR Delivery Group and would be responsible for delivering these documents.

Role responsibilities for the Information Governance Officer:

  • Support and strengthen the IG GDPR Delivery Group by ensuring records management procedures including the audit of records, guidance on retention and records lifecycles for both manual and electronic records. Establish and maintain a register of data owners for sets of information (e.g. paper files, databases) and educate the data owners on their responsibilities (what is the data, its use, access and security).
  • Support the Delivery Group with Data protection and associated work to reduce the risk of information breaches, as described by the GDPR and associated UK legislation i.e. data protection by design, DPIA.
  • Ensure Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA) are carried out and become embedded practice.
  • Policies for records access audits to provide assurance that the organization is mitigating the risk of breaches against the legal framework and lead on the development of suitable action plans/recommendations from these to evidence continuous improvement.
  • Develop the processes for subject access requests (SAR) for information by patients and employees exercising their rights under the ISA and the GDPR.

The Information Governance Officer should have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role ideally within a healthcare or social care setting or similar public-sector environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Information Governance GDPR and of delivering related documents, policies and procedures.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
