SceneOne has an exciting opportunity to join of a multi-national market leader in Financial Services which has been named as a ‘Top Attractor’ of the best talent in the UK market. 

This organisation sees technology not just as a necessary evil but see it as something which can set them apart from their competition in the market with the right focus on innovation.

They are embarking on an internal digital transformation project of epic proportions which focuses on providing a positive and engaging working environment for their technical teams, using cutting edge technology and agile methodologies to cut down on the day to day frustrations of their role and give them more time to be creative and innovative. 

As this global project gets underway, they are looking to engage with two Engineering Strategy Architects to work closely with one another and take a lead on this project from their Glasgow office. 

The Role:  

You will work as a team to identify and alleviate “friction points” that exist across the business globally within their engineering teams, working directly with all levels of the business from individual developers to C-Suite. 

You will work to define the current experience and work with SMEs for each business unit to create a solution using cutting edge technology and methodologies and will then communicate across the various stakeholders to encourage adoption of the new solution. 

You will be encouraged to be creative and innovative, keeping abreast of new technologies and trends within the technology industry and creating new ways of encouraging engagement and collaboration within the workplace such as Hackathons. 

This role has global responsibility and so you will be engaging with teams across the globe. Therefore, it is anticipated that there will be some travel involved though teleconferencing facilities are well equipped throughout the business. 

Role Requirements:

In order to be successful in this role, you will be an experienced, hands-on Software Engineer and/or Architect. You will be passionate about new technologies and methodologies and enjoy researching these in your own time, and will be enthusiastic about thinking creatively to solve old problems in new ways.

You will be skilled in the following areas:

  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of a business
  • Actively involved in hands-on software engineering/development
  • Experience with User Experience (UX) is essential
  • Knowledge of industry standard development tooling such as Jenkins, AIM, Sonar, Nautilus etc)
  • Agile methodology and the concept of a “T-Shaped Developer”
  • Understanding of DevOps concepts
  • Knowledge of software delivery automation
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and encouraging partnerships within the workplace
  • Experience in critical thinking across technology vision, strategy, solutions, roadmap and portfolio delivery
