SceneOne's client, a multi-national IT consultancy, are urgently seeking a talented individual for a DevOps / Linux Consultant opportunity to be part an AWS migration team working on a high profile public sector project.

Responsibilities of the DevOps / Linux Consultant:

  • As part of an Agile delivery team you will be responsible for implementing and managing continuous delivery systems and methodologies into AWS. Supporting development activities for the application through deployments and unblocking infrastructural dependencies.
  • Managing core services such as Oracle SOA system, JBOSS Fuse and Jenkins for having smooth running applications in all environments.
  • Developing DevOps tooling for continuous improvement to increase team productivity through AGILE development.
  • Drive operational efficiencies to ensuring that the platform is robust, available and scalable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Infrastructure team members, Developers and QA team members to discuss and resolve issues.
  • Technologies involved: Linux experience CENT OS /RHEL, Linux scripting (python/shell), Maven, Zabbix, Postgres, OpenLDAP, ActiveMQ, HBase, Tomcat, Jenkins 2.0, GIT, Nexus, Sonar, Oracle SOA

Skills & experience required for the DevOps / Linux Consultant role:

  • Previous experience in deploying AWS IAM, VPC, EC2, ASG, ELB and RDS components using Terraform.
  • Solid Linux experience.
  • Experience of deploying complex cloud applications ideally with Ansible/Puppet.
  • Application build, deployment & monitoring experience.
  • Ideally experience of developing and maintaining Puppet/Kubernetes systems.
  • Experience of Agile, Java enterprise environments, Messaging Systems and OSGi concepts.
