Role: Deputy IT Director

Location: Essex

Salary: £67,247 - £83,258 per annum D.O.E. + benefits

My client, a consultancy who specialise in services to the health and social care sector, are urgently seeking a Deputy IT Director for a business critical NHS role based in Essex.

The post holder will support the Director of Information and IT in managing the delivery of ICT services including ensuring that business and clinical requirements are reflected in the technology applications and information services, and that customers receive excellent customer service.

The post holder will also monitor contract performance and ensure any required improvements are implemented.

Role responsibilities of the Deputy IT Director include:

  • Delivering a suite of new clinical information systems and overall responsibility of the success of this programme including budget and resource management
  • Policy development - development and implementation of IT policies
  • Operational management - ensuring robust design, implementation and operation of the ICT infrastructure and support services including technical architectures, systems, services, policies, operational procedures and processes across the sites
  • Management of all systems and equipment
  • Clinical Safety, operational performance, financial decisions and escalations relating to Data Quality

Skills and experience required for the Deputy IT Director role include:

  • Educated to degree level
  • ITIL & Prince 2 qualified
  • Significant experience in a similar senior ICT Management/Deputy Director role
  • Demonstrable experience working with large corporate networks within a demanding environment
  • Good understanding of NHS data standards, definitions and data model
  • Awareness of Health Care ICT Strategy
  • Experience of managing contracts, including 3rd party supplier relationships, for individual projects or programmes to be delivered.
  • Understanding of information flows, reporting, data quality and the clinical coding functions
  • Understanding of Information Governance and security
  • Experience of major system procurement
  • Evidence of contribution to Strategy development and implementation
  • Experience of Policy review, development and implementation
  • Experience of developing and managing service level agreements, commercial contracts and account management
  • Evidence of contributing to ICT Transformation projects
  • Experience managing large scale complex and highly sensitive programmes and projects
  • Experience managing Capital and revenue budgets over £1m
  • Strong people management skills
  • Evidence of developing and monitoring business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical ICT systems
