Our client provides cutting edge science and technology solutions into public sector clients and as such they have built strong teams across their various locations in the UK who are working hard to support vital missions and solve the world's toughest problems. Due to the continued success and growth of the business, they are seeking a Data Architect for a high profile public sector project in Edinburgh.

The Data Architect role:

  • Architect complex data analytics platforms and integration solutions to securely collect, store, anonymise (where required), and manage data collected from multiple sources to create an integrated platform for analytics.
  • Lead technical definition of complete platform solutions covering the lifecycle from CONOPS, to requirements development, technical planning, system integration, analysis of alternatives, verification and validation, design, build, cost , deploy, and sustainment.
  • Produces technical roadmaps that advance the technical baseline and address both the technical and the business factors.
  • Lead communicator of technical system with the customer
  • Collaborate with customer on solution options and recommendations
  • Support creation of Project Plan, identification of Risks and generation of Risk Mitigation Plans
  • Technical lead of the implementation team

Skills and experience required for the Data Architect role:

  • Experience of the architecture and implementation of large scale data integration and data lake solutions
  • Experience with technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and AWS
  • Experience integrating big data solutions with enterprise services such as identity management
  • Experience in data governance, data modelling, data standards and data innovation
  • Experience architecting solution on integrating COTS and Open Source products
  • Experience with Redhat Linux and Java based solutions
  • Experience with “hands on” implementation of big data solutions
  • Experience with System Development Lifecycle processes & documentation
  • Experience estimating task effort and identifying dependencies
