Our client provides cutting edge science and technology solutions into public sector clients and as such they have built strong teams across their various locations in the UK who are working hard to support vital missions and solve the world’s toughest problems. Due to the continued success and growth of the business, they are looking for a Business Analyst for a public sector project based in Edinburgh.

The Business Analyst role:

  • To capture as-is and to-be business and functional requirements for both Digital Services and Business solutions
  • To facilitate customer journey and experience mapping workshops to capture as-is and to-be business and functional requirements from the customer’s perspective
  • To facilitate workshops and customer engagements to understand internal and external business need, benefits, risks and costs
  • To analyse internal and external business-related data to support business case development and provide adequate evidence from which decisions can be made
  • Use data modelling practices to analyse key findings and create suggestions for strategic and operational improvements and changes in support of digital business transformation;
  • To undertake business service redesign techniques as appropriate in the development of future service operating models
  • To undertake market research on innovative practice and translate this into practical opportunities for application within the public sector, particularly where transformation and alternative service delivery models exist
  • To present, report and communicate complex business issues with a range of key stakeholders, including at an Executive level

Skills & experience required for the Business Analyst role:

  • Significant track record as a Business Analyst with experience within a public-sector environment
  • Ability to facilitate workshops to both an internal and external audience
  • Experience of working within an Agile environment, including defining user needs, creating personas and writing user stories
  • Proven track record of collaborative working with UX designers, technical architects and developers to create new digital products and services
  • Good technical awareness - is comfortable and competent when discussing technology
  • Proven record of ability in demonstrating a range of consultancy skills, with emphasis on collaborative working
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and translate business issues and needs into relevant, actionable research plans and objectives
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to present research findings in a creative and compelling way
