SceneOne's client, a multinational IT consultancy, are looking for an AWS Architect to join their team in Croydon on a large public-sector project.

You would be accountable for designing, some build, and supporting AWS infrastructure as code and tooling.

Responsibilities of the AWS Architect:

  • Own the day-to-day detail of contracts with AWS and logging, liaising and chasing support tickets with AWS
  • Create, own and maintain the AWS infrastructure roadmap and tooling roadmap
  • Create, own and maintain all logical diagrams
  • Create all initial physical diagrams
  • In conjunction with DevOps team, create, own and maintain standards for AWS naming and AWS build standards (the latter in Terraform – in Stash)
  • Build some of the AWS infrastructure yourself, in Terraform
  • Analyse business requirements to develop infrastructure solutions within AWS
  • Create and implement a rolling plan for upgrading of AWS infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership and consultancy to both internal and external development teams, ensuring AWS infrastructure, and all tooling, is fit for purpose, whilst meeting time, performance, security and budget constraints
  • Enable a positive technical culture, applying agile methods to development and completing quality assurance practices
  • Advise product managers on the estimated effort and technical implications of current user stories, as well as those in the backlog
  • Form relationships with external suppliers

Required Skills/Experience for AWS Architect role:

  • Solid experience in the latest developments in cloud computing, AWS, and contemporary, valuable tooling
  • Significant experience in a very large-scale agile environment
  • Solid infrastructure as code experience in an AWS environment, including personally building in Terraform
  • Strong software development and application architecture experience, with good knowledge of open source technologies, testing and at least one programming language
  • Understanding of how to influence senior management and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experienced in dealing safely with data protection and all other relevant laws
