Application Support Engineer (PERL, Bash, Linux) - Cambridge

SceneOne are engaged with a global solutions provider who are driving the evolution of the software landscape through their use of innovative technologies and its application to Big Data.  As a result of continued success, they are looking to add software engineers to their application development teams based in Cambridge.


With a market leading cloud archiving solution, they have been rated as a market leader in Enterprise Information Archiving.  To continue this trend, they require software engineers to join their thriving development teams based in Cambridge. 


The successful candidate will join a development team focused on designing and developing monitoring tools across a range of key business areas.  


Key responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge application issue across client sites within a SaaS environment
  • Proactively provide solutions to prevent future problems including increasing application reliability etc. 
  • Participating in the culture of continual service improvement
  • Working closely with the development team and independently on solution design
  • Experienced candidates will be involved in the mentoring and training of more junior members of the team


Experience required:

  • Experience with Open Source technologies such as Java, Apache, Javascript, JBOSS etc. 
  • Strong understanding of SQL based databases, ideally MySQL
  • Ability to develop custom scripts with tools such as Perl, Bash, Shell, Powershell or VB Script
  • Practised in Testing and Quality Assurance methodologies
  • Comfortable working in an Agile based development environment
  • Comfortable operating in a Linux based environment
